Eighty members played in the Pro Shop Texas Scramble event at Mendip and with the course having dried out so well and with the greens in good order, scoring was very competitive.

In fact, the team in 20th position still carded a 9 under par score. There was a 5 way tie on 56, which after count back left Dean and Henry Lewer, Daniel Owen and Aimee Sawyer in third position and Rich Clifford, Cliff Hall, Craig Robertson and Andrew Wells in second place. But winning with a net 54 were Stephen Coate, Lewis Gumbleton, Richard Gumbleton and Brian Rawlings.

Nearest the Pin this week went to Craig Robertson with John Stembridge in second place.

Thirty six ladies competed in a 9 hole Texas Scramble. After count back Carol Howerd, Sue Needham, Elaine Richardson and Allison Rumming came third with thirty leaving Anne Collins, Debbie Godwin, Annette Jobbins and Diane Stanton in second place. However, the winning team with a net 28 were Jo Espley, Janet Light, Jenny Merrett and Edwina Willis.

With all eyes on the new season ahead, the Seniors Vice Captain Tony Scott presented the results of the 2023 Seniors Order of Merit. This competition was held with the best five scores from the nominated eight events counting.

In total an astonishing 181 seniors played in at least one of these events. The winner was young Senior Martin Myers with 119 points, well done Martin.In second place came Paul Wood with 98 points and Bryan Lewis was third with 83. Peter Rumming won the Leading Veteran award with 68 points.
