Kilmersdon Cricket Club celebrated a highly promising 2019 season at the club’s annual presentation evening, held at the Old Down Inn at Emborough.

Club Captain, Mark Batchelar, acknowledged the progress made by the club during the season, with a third place in Division Four of the North Somerset Cricket League representing the highest finishing position for several years. Batchelar also noted the development of the club’s younger players during 2019 and the contribution made by them to the team, before closing with some statistical highlights from the season.

Harry Humphries, in his final season with the club, was awarded the Clubman of the Year shield for his contributions, both on the field with the ball, and his invaluable work behind the scenes for the club. The Batsman of the Year award was shared between Batchelar and Alex Gardiner, who had both had outstanding seasons, recording 592 and 272 runs respectively.

Ben Curtis collected the Bowler of the Year trophy in recognition of his sixteen wickets during the season and overall development of his bowling skills. Curtis was also unfortunately presented with the club’s ‘duck bat’ for failing to trouble the scorers on the most occasions over the course of the year!

The Young Player of the Year award was shared between Charlotte Hazell for her bowling and Kieron Gray for his batting and fielding contributions. Gray also picked up the Champagne Moment award for a stunning catch in the deep during the very final match of the season.

Club Chairperson, Many Hazell, was presented with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of her work during the season. Flowers were also given to Preeti Ramlackhan and Jess Moore to thank them for their support of the club.

Kilmersdon will now look forward to the 2020 season with great enthusiasm, commencing with a trip to face Keynsham CC on Sunday, 3rd May.
