In their final home game of the season, Temple Cloud CC entertained promotion-chasing Wellington and lost by 71 runs.

Wellington won the toss and made a steady start against Temple’s opening attack of Mahoney and Hackett, who each claimed two wickets. At 50–4, the home side were on top but a century stand between Bray (58) and Latifi (62) rescued the innings. Late wickets to Rob Head and Mark Hamblin kept Wellington to a competitive score.

Temple shuffled their batting order with the result that opening bowler, Simon Mahoney, batted early on for a valuable 44. His was the highest score and whilst five players got to double figures, they could not go on to make the necessary big score and partnership necessary. For the visitors, Derrick (4–45) and Hendy (3–26) did the damage. Despite the victory, Wellington ended outside the promotion positions, as results elsewhere went against them. Temple remained in a respectable fifth position.

After the game the following awards were made by the home side: Clubman of the Year: Howie Wilton, 1st Xl Player of the Year: Miles Hackett. Players’ Player: Rob Head. 2nd Xl Player of the Year: Tom Haydon. Players’ Player: Simon Feaver.

Chairman, Andy Hayne, congratulated Skipper, Kevin Curtis, on their success at Taunton in the Somerset Intermediate Cup, which was the highlight of the season for the club, and thanked Andrew Tucker and family for their continued support at Stowey Road. The Second Eleven’s game at Burnham was called off by the home side, leaving them also in fifth position in their league.
