IN A weekend full of drama Timsbury enjoyed its best day of the season with another nail-biting win for the first team, a thrilling run chase for the seconds and an amazing fightback from the third eleven to claim an exciting tie

Timsbury left it to the very last ball of the match before achieving a two-wicket win away to Keynsham second eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 1. The highlight was an outstanding all-round display from the visitors’ Kev Sibley.

After the home side had made a solid start he produced a fine spell of seam bowling to finish with 4-31 from his 8 overs. A number of the Keynsham players got starts but were unable to go on with four scores in the twenties and they eventually reached 159-8 with two late wickets for Jez Hare.

Timsbury then encountered similar problems and at 103-6 were very much on the back foot. A crucial partnership between Sibley and Cory Versfeld (20) gave hope but when two wickets fell on 137 Keynsham again became favourites. Sibley, however, remained composed and together with Sam Hoddinott took the visitors home with a boundary off the final ball to finish unbeaten on 31. In such a closely competed contest Keynsham may well look back on the 22 wides they conceded compared to Timsbury’s six.

Timsbury’s second eleven faced a sizeable run chase in their home match against Pak Bristolians second eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 6 but in the end breezed home with plenty to spare. An unbeaten innings of 135 from Muzammil Hussain enabled the visitors to reach 221-2 from their 40 overs with Tom Parfitt (2-34) the only bowler to achieve a breakthrough. Far from being daunted by the challenge Timsbury openers Josh Tucker (46) and skipper Adam Workman (35) reacted in positive style and when they departed a typically ebullient Paul Cracknell with 68 not out and Dan Hill (37 not out ) saw the home side home for a famous seven wicket success.

Timsbury’s third eleven were involved in a remarkable tie away to Hampset third eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Batting first the visitors notched up 184-6 from their 40 overs, thanks largely to Laurie Jones (66), Paul Sage (43) and Sol Thompson (36) with Jasmine Sinclair the most successful of the Hampset bowlers with 3-39.

When Hampset through the efforts of Christopher Kindon (77) and Jack Hughes (64) reached 166-1 the outcome seemed inevitable but then Timsbury introduced 12 year old Albie Sage into the attack. In a fairytale finale he took 3-7 from his three overs and with Sam Sparks at the other end taking 3-11 the home side contrived to lose 7 late wickets to finish on 184-8.
