WITH the weather slightly improving, there have been a number of competitions at Mendip Golf Club.
Firstly the Pro Shop Stablefords. The winner of the event on the 20th February was Martin Green with 33 points, after count back from Mark Necker.
On the 21st February the winner was Paul Merrett with 38 points, one better than Craig Drew who in turn was one ahead of Kevin Brimble who was 3rd after count back.
On the 22nd February Jonathan Cummings won with 33 with Tony Scott 2nd with 31 and Gary Quin was 3rd with 30.
Forty-four Ladies played in the 9 hole Bowmaker. Top score came from Diane Stanton/Susy Rudkin/Penny Oliver/Gill Lowen with 44 points. In 2nd place came Elaine P Richardson/Fran Davies/Rebecca Edwards/Lynne Vowles with 43 and Chris Down/Corinne Durbin/Susan Forshaw/Sandra Hares were 3rd with 40.
Ninety-four Seniors played a Stableford which saw a win in Division 1 for Rob Thain with 37 while Stephen Heal was 2nd with 35, after count back from Bryan Lewis. Div 2 went to David Golledge with 35, Paul Godwin was 2nd with 34 and Peter Walford was 3rd with 32 after a four-person tie.
Div 3 was won by Peter Daulby with 36 after count back from James Blackstock and Andrew Cadman was 3rd with 32, after count back from Adam Spragg. However, the overall winner after count back was John Hugill with 37. Tony & Andrea Williams
