SOMERSET County Cricket Club have appointed Andrew Griffiths as Head of Talent and Development.
‘Griff,’ as he is known, will lead the club’s Boys’ and Girls’ Pathway and Academy programmes and will oversee talent identification, player development and coaching. This new role will enable the county club to maintain a clear and effective route from pathway cricket into the professional game.
The development of the position will help to maintain the connection between talent development and elite performance, supporting Somerset CCC’s ambitions across the Pathway plus Men’s and Women’s programmes.
Regarding his new role, Griff said: “I’m really pleased to have been given the opportunity to take on the role of Head of Talent and Development. Having been involved in the Pathway for a number of years, it’s an environment that means a great deal to me, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to build on the brilliant work that has been done before me.
“I’m looking to continue developing an environment that provides young cricketers with outstanding experiences and supports them to grow both as players and as people.”
Somerset CCC Director of Cricket Andy Hurry added: “Andrew has been a valued part of the club for almost a decade, contributing across a number of key roles and consistently demonstrating the qualities that make him the ideal person to take on this enhanced position.
“His knowledge of our Pathway and Academy systems, combined with his expertise in player development, is exceptional. He has a genuine passion for helping players and people realise their potential, possesses a deep understanding of how our talent system operates, and has created strong relationships across our regional network.”
