TEMPLE CLOUD 243-7 MIDDLEZOY 171-8

Temple fielded a weakened side as Glastonbury Festival proved irresistible for some.

Fortunately, the Second Xl fixture had been rearranged at the request of the opposition, so four players stepped up and won convincingly against Middlezoy at Stowey road.

Temple batted first, with Tom Haydon (25) and Alex Comer (27) making a solid start. On their dismissal, Kevin Curtis went cheaply, but Jamer Hayne (57) held the innings together, despite losing wickets cheaply at the other end.

Dave Willock with an important 50 and a 40-run partnership between Spike Wilton and Steve Brown saw Temple to a respectable 243-7. Ben Warren 3-13 was Middlezoy’s star bowler.

In reply, Middlezoy were always behind the run rate, despite an excellent 91 not-out by opener, Nathan Barnard. He constantly lost partners cheaply to Steve Brown (3-30) and Spike Wilton (3-28) leaving the visitors 72 runs short.
