Temple visited Shapwick for the opening game of the season with a much changed side. They won the toss and put the home side into bat, with Simon Curtis 2-22, making early inroads.
Opener Steven Spencer held the innings together with a defiant half century while wickets fell at regular intervals to the various Temple bowlers.
Daniel Raisbeck, 3-39, was the most successful, dismissing the dangerous Spencer, with the innings closing on 162-9.
Temple’s reply started briskly, with Miles Hackett (15) and Matt Sheppard (59) sharing a fifty partnership. Matt in particular was in aggressive mode, scoring boundaries freely off the home attack of Smith and Spencer. On their dismissals, Billy Garrett was out cheaply, which brought the Curtis brothers together. Skipper, Kevin, (31 n.o.) and Simon (20 n.o.) saw the visitors home, with seven wickets and eighteen overs to spare.
In Division 6N, Temple entertained Bridgwater Pointers, at Stowey Road, and were beaten by eight wickets.Temple scored 163-six, with Toby Ingram top scoring with 41 n.o. followed by Alex Comer (32) and Tom Haydon (31).Bridgwater replied with 164-2, with Kelly 75 n.o. and Keith 63 n.o.
Toby Ingram, 2-41, was Temple’s most successful bowler.
