WEMBDON 3rds 186-3 TEMPLE CLOUD 2nds 187-4

With the First XI match against Taunton St Andrews being rearranged due to Somerset’s Final at Lords, it was up to the second Xl to continue their good start to the season.

They visited Wembdon, who won the toss and batted first. Throughout the afternoon, wickets were hard to come by for both sides, with only seven falling in the whole match.

Paul Rooke and Ethan Savage opened steadily putting on 70 before Rooke (32) was out to Richard Appleyard. Savage batted throughout the innings for 73 not-out, but the final score of 186-3 in forty overs looked below-par as the home side were unable to accelerate in the final overs due to economic spells from all six Temple bowlers used.

Temple made a positive start in reply with Tom Haydon (64) and Jon Doel (88 not-out). They put together a century-plus partnership, but on Tom’s dismissal, three wickets fell cheaply, but with Jon remaining undefeated with an excellent innings, Temple got home comfortably with wickets and overs to spare.
