A FINE all-round display saw Timsbury win by 103 runs away to Clevedon 2nd XI in the Bristol and District League Division 1 to move to second place in the table. The confident start to the season has seen them win five matches out of seven with just one defeat.

Opener Mark Sage was again in excellent form for the visitor,s striking 10 fours in his innings of 65 after his side had been put into bat. After his dismissal and that of acting captain Lew Redwood the innings was at a crossroads at 121-4 before a rousing partnership of 99 between Paul Cracknel l and Gary Pearcy reasserted Timsbury’s dominance. Cracknell, who is in a rich vein of form at the moment, struck 8 fours and a six in his knock of 58 while Pearcy supported him well with 37 as the visitors finished their 40 overs on 235-6.

In response Clevedon made a good start despite an economic spell of 2-22 from Liam Hosford. Knocks of 43 from Wilson and 26 from Lamprell saw the home side reach 102-2 and the chase was very much on. From there, however, the innings imploded as Clevedon contrived to lose their last eight wickets for a mere 30 runs. The main destroyer was Sam Hoddinott who returned some of his best figures for the club taking 5-31 and with Jon Strand taking two late wickets the home side were hustled out for 132.

It turned out to be a good day for the club with the second eleven winning by seven wickets at home to Thornbury thirds in the Bristol and District League Division 6. After being put into bat the visitors made a cautious start against the tight bowling of Russ King and Zach Cox before a double bowling change saw Timsbury take control. Ellis Hancock, in his first outing of the season, took 4-21 from his eight overs and Freddie Hosford 2-21 and two wickets each late on from acting captain Dan Hill (2-3) and Albie Sage (2-12) saw Thornbury dismissed for 80.

In reply Timsbury made a poor start losing their first three wickets for just 15. Ben Saunder and Cox ensured there would be no slip up , however, with an unbroken partnership of 68 to see the home side over the line. Saunder finished unbeaten on 44 and Cox was 18 not out.
