Rain ruined the recent club competition for the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club, but it made no difference to the grouping of Allen Cheney, Cyril Blacker and John Williams, who produced an outstanding score in the Continuforms Trophy Three Ball Texas Scramble to win by seven shots.

Their nett total of 45 will rank among the best in the history of this competition. In second place, with 52, were John Bendle, Captain George Underwood and Bob Smith, who beat third-placed Gerry Rowell, Terry Button and Barry Dugmore on count back.

The Seniors experienced mixed fortunes in the latest round of social matches. In the first leg of the FosseKing Trophy away to Kingweston, the club were beaten 4.5–1.5. The one pairing to win were Vice-Captain, John Appleton, and Terry Button, who finished one up, while Howard Nowell and Smith won the last two holes to end all square in their game. Less successful were Underwood and Arthur Bellinger, who lost 4&2, Blacker and Malcolm Tucker, who were beaten 5&4, Denis White and Frank Reeves, who lost 4&2, and Bendle and Brian Phelps who were two down. Fosseway will be hoping to make up lost ground in the return leg and to retain the trophy they hold at present. There was better news in the home game with Woodbridge Park, with a 4–1 win for Fosseway. Cheney and Smith were again in good form, winning 5&3, Blacker and Chris Ellam finished two up, Rowell and Phelps were 3&2 winners and Pete Fitch and Tucker won 8&7. Underwood and Button were disappointed, beaten 7&6.
