Farrington Golf and Country Club celebrated its annual presentation evening for their Junior Section for 2012 recently. Over 100 juniors, parents and friends attended this annual event to recognise the achievements of the section and also to show appreciation to Steve and Mandy Hobbs who relinquished their roles as Junior Organisers after six successful years in office. The Farrington Junior winners are pictured above.

The Junior team has for the seventh consecutive season won the Somerset League showing the considerable depth of the section, as they were able to field twenty different players in their matches. The highlight was winning the South West qualifier for the Home Nations Cup where they finished fifth in the country last month.

County representation was also high with players representing Somerset at all levels, adults and juniors and from both the boys and girls within the section. Former Farrington Junior, Tom Small, also went on to win the Somerset Men's County Championship for the first time.

Golf is important for all and Farrington are pleased to have a large junior membership at all levels from beginners in their Tiger Club through to the standard mentioned above.

Celebrated on the evening were all the major prize winners throughout the year. These included Josh Hilleard, who for the second successive year won the Junior Club Championship and Men's Club Championship, Isabelle Hansford and Charlie Cook who won the most improved player award and Louis Archer who won the most dedicated player.

In addition on the evening, various fund raising took place and £200 was raised for charity, this being shared between the captain's charity and Macmillan Cancer Support.
