The greatest excitement of the week at Farrington Park was away from the club at Yeovil, hosts of England Golf's South West Match Week. Somerset sent a squad of twelve First Team players to represent the county in a week's worth of matches between the six counties, who make up the South West Region of England Golf – Wiltshire, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Inter-County Match Week is the major event in the regional calendar, during which the six counties compete against each other to find the county team who will represent the South West region at the National County Finals. Farrington Park's Ladies had the honour of fielding three of the twelve First Team players who represented Somerset in Match Week. We are tremendously proud of Michaela Chivers, Aimee Sawyer and Victoria Watts for their contribution to Somerset's campaign. To have three such talented golfers in our midst is a credit to the club and it is wonderful to see them do so well. Somerset tied with Cornwall for second place, with three points at the end of the week, only fractionally behind the winner, Gloucestershire, with three points. Very well done to Michaela, Aimee and Victoria for how well they represented the county and for the high quality golf they played throughout the week. 36 Ladies took part in Thursday, 12th June's Qualifying Stableford. Conditions were glorious and lashings of high factor suncream were needed by all. The dry, hot weather has given us a very welcome roll on the ball. Long may it continue. Despite the favourable conditions, scoring was tough, confirmed by the day's CSS of 74. June Symonds had another storming round, winning with 37 Stableford points on countback. Pauline Brixey came second, with 37 Stableford points on countback, and Lin Papadopollous came third, with 34 Stableford points. The competition results saw June's handicap cut for the second time in two weeks, this time by a shot to 21. Pauline Brixey had her playing handicap reduced by a shot to twenty. Well done to both. Lo Dallocco scored a two-spot on the fifth hole. Farrington Park Men In improving weather conditions as the day continued, Kris Broadway took the honours in Division One, with 37 points, beating Steve Hobbs on countback.
