Another successful Junior Presentation Night at Farrington Park saw over 100 parents and juniors celebrate the achievements of the thriving Junior section.
Junior organiser, Pete Hansford, expertly organised the event with nearly 100 certificates and prizes awarded to the many talented youngsters at the club.
The night started with the presentation of certificates for the 35 Juniors who have completed their Young Masters Golf levels under the guidance of PGA Head Professional, Jonathan Lawrence and PGA Professional, Terry Williams. The Tigers Awards came next with the outstanding Tiger of the Year being shared by sisters, Frankie and Libby Dezis. Everyone was amazed by both their putting skills as they holed three long putts in a row on the club's putting mat in front of the whole room.
Ryan Peters won the best nine-hole player and the Junior Club Championship Trophy was awarded to the incoming Junior Captain and current Somerset Boys Champion, Ben Josham.
The Farrington Park
Junior League Team were also mentioned, not only for their Somerset League win for the eighth year in a row, but also for winning the Somerset Three-Man Team event.
Farrington Park Ladies
Winter golf is renowned for being more difficult to play and finish with a good score. The player has to contend with cold winds and rain and the atmospheric conditions generally cause the ball to travel shorter distances. However, none of these have hampered Sue Stilwell's brilliant golf in recent weeks. Since the end of October, Sue has achieved three handicap cuts. The latest was last Thursday in a Stableford Qualifier, which saw other amazing scores from the 24 ladies who took part. Didi Ager came in first with 43 points, second Sue Stilwell, with 40 points, and third, Min Woodward, with 37 points. Sue must really be looking forward to the summer months.
Nine ladies played in the Saturday Stableford on 30th November. Jo Carter won with 34 points, Jackie Walker came second, with 33 points on countback, and third was Terri O'Shea, also with 33 points.
