Since last year, the FLORA team, and their volunteers, have installed ten bat boxes around the course, sown seeds, and planted wildflowers, in various locations, starting a wildflower meadow, and planted a copse of twenty fruit bearing trees. All these projects are very long term, but results should start to be seen by next spring.

There was a good turnout for the competition, although COVID claimed several players and one organiser, who have all thankfully recovered from the virus.

The weather was sunny, and not too hot thanks to a nice breeze, and some cloud cover. Lesley Stone supplied the wonderful cakes at the halfway hut, and FLORA provided a complimentary glass of Pimm’s ,to each competitor. Sue Forshaw, provided the floral prizes for the top 4 pairs, as well as decorating the halfway house, where Elaine Davidson was in charge of the plant stall. She did a roaring trade with her plant sales, and these provided the bulk of the money raised on the day, which totalled nearly £500 for FLORA funds.
