The Methodists finally recorded their first league victory of the season with a resounding win away at Cleeve.

After being put in on a magnificent batting track, the Methodists' Alex Nash and Mark Robinson got off to a good start with 40 runs in nine overs. Craig Eyles joined Nash at the fall of the first wicket and the pair kept on finding the boundaries as they upped the run-rate - three figures coming up in the 18th over, as the home bowlers struggled to contain their expansive array of shots. Nash brought up an excellent hundred as the scoreboard rattled onwards, until in the 28th over he was finally snared for 110 by Terry Horler, after adding a terrific 132 runs with Eyles for the second wicket. Methodists' debutant Matt Kerr then cameoed with a quick 22, before James Green (28) joined Eyles to pummel another 80 runs from just 42 balls, as the visitors posted a mammoth 293-4 at tea - their second-highest total ever - with the brilliant Eyles still unbeaten on a splendid 91.

Following the break, Cleeve's innings hit trouble straight away as they found themselves four wickets down after just five overs. Skipper John Hance dug in to add 54 with Tom Brown but Daniel Shearn (3-33) ended their stand as he removed the captain for a useful 34. James Sackett picked up his 100th wicket for the club to make it 93-6 before Horler (36) mounted some solid resistance with the rest of the lower order. He took the home side to a more respectable score, before finally being dismissed by 'keeper Dave Sackett's spectacular flying catch. James Green (2-18) eventually wrapped things up in the penultimate over as the Methodists recorded a handsome 146-run victory in front of their touring supporters.
