KEYNSHAM TOWN 1 PAULTON ROVERS 6
On Monday night, Paulton Rovers U18s took the short journey to Keynsham Town FC for a 7.45 p.m. knock out.
After winning the previous meeting 11-2, Paulton fielded a starting line-up that featured five U16s to give the younger lads a chance to prove themselves.
The young lads started the game well and took control of it early on. With twelve minutes played, Jake Curtis, who scored five goals in the previous fixture, found the breakthrough after latching onto an Alfie Williams through-ball and fired it past the Keynsham goalkeeper to put the visitors in the lead.
This was soon followed by another goal, this time it was debutant, Dan Simpson-Jarman, who did well, curling the ball with his weak foot around the keeper and into the side netting to make it 2-0.
Paulton continued to play high tempo, fast, attacking football and on thirty minutes, Jake Curtis was brought down inside the area to win a penalty for the visitors, however his effort was then fired at the post and bounced back into play for the game to continue.
Keynsham reacted to this and started to get forward more, resulting in a goal for the home side. A strike from forty yards out that sailed over the GK and straight into the top corner of the goal, making the score 2-1.
After the break, Paulton regained control of the game and were dominating possession, moving the ball well through the thirds. The blistering pace of Jake again proved a problem for the Keynsham defence as he secured his second goal of the game, again latching onto a loose ball in behind the defence and this time rounding the keeper before slotting the ball into an empty net.
Five minutes later, Marco Madaras made it 4-1 after meeting a corner kick with a fine volley from close range.
Paulton did not let off this time and continued to put in a dominant performance all across the pitch. Jake Curtis then scored a terrific individual goal from outside the box after going past three defenders.
Just before the final whistle, Jake managed to grab his fourth goal of the game, again out-pacing the defence with the ball at his feet before finishing well past the oncoming keeper.
That makes it nine goals in two appearances against Keynsham for the Paulton striker!
We wish Keynsham all the best for the rest of the season and we would also like to thank everyone at the club for their continued support throughout 2019. We wish you all a Happy New Year!
