Paulton Rovers FC will be away as they face the winners of Bradford Town versus Roman Glass in the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, 25th August. The winners of this tie will receive £2,850, whereas the losers will receive £960. Their opponents will be decided in the Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday, 11th August.
Paulton will also travel to Bristol Manor Farm for the opening salvo in the FA Trophy in October.
A representative of Paulton Rovers said: “The squad have been training for three weeks now, and are showing progress every session. The new players have integrated excellently with the lads retained from last season, who are showing great appetite and hunger to improve on their experiences gained last season.”
John Rendell and his coaches, Paul Tovey and Gary Powell, were fully aware they needed to freshen things up and make the required changes during the summer, with the improvement on the overall level of consistency in performance the main priority. They have retained the players they feel will fit into the club’s ethos and continue to improve collectively and individually as a group.
Rendell said: “We feel the new signings replacing the lads who have been released will improve us, and we continue to work hard during the off-season to gel the squad and implement the required style of play.
“We have had between eighteen and 24 players for our sessions, with a number of trialists also working hard wanting to be a part of it, so although we have carried out the majority of the summer transfer work early throughout May and June, we will also be adding to the squad where we feel we can still strengthen.
“We currently have competition for every position which is extremely healthy, and once the friendly matches commence, then it will be down to the lads to show what they can produce and earn the right to play for this club.”
The pre-season campaign starts off with an Away fixture at Radstock Town on Thursday, 12th July; kick-off 7.30 p.m., before playing Bitton away on Tuesday, 17th July; kick-off at 7.45 p.m.
Camen Harvey continues to work hard under the guidance of the club physio, Amy Wheeler, as he continues rehab following his knee ligament injury sustained last year, causing him to miss the last two months of the season. Every other player is available.
