Chilcompton Sports Youth FC has been growing from strength to strength, with the amount of children now using the new facility growing year on year. The new clubhouse has been purpose-built as a Sports Club, which the local community can now use throughout the year, with cricket and tennis being played there in the summer.

In order to maintain and support the children in their journey from Soccer Tots, at ages 4/5 years, through to 16-years-old, the club requires more FA qualified coaches.

Most of the age groups start playing seven-a-side matches from Under-7 to Under-10. During that period, there have been approximately twenty or more children to choose from each week in each age group across two teams.

The current training offered to local children is as good as grass roots football can offer. All age groups up to Under-11s offer two teams to accommodate fourteen players, seven in each, and they train midweek and Saturday mornings, with matches on Sundays.

As the children pass through the club, each child and their abilities change, so the club needs to offer a form of A and B Team football for each age group to optimise a child’s game time and their individual abilities.

At Under-11, players participate in a larger format of the game, becoming nine-a-side. This means children who have been playing across two teams in one age group are all competing for one nine-a-side team, so an A and B team for each age group would be beneficial, with new coaches to help.

If you have not got an FA Coaching license, the club would consider offering funding and support for you to take a coaching badge. If you already have a coaching badge and are interested in a new challenge and opportunity, then please speak to Chilcompton Sports by emailing: [email protected] or telephone Rachel Brown on: 07734 443808.

Please register your interest for next season’s opportunities now via the Facebook page, which can be found by searching Chilcompton Sports. Currently, next year’s Under-11s are looking for a new coach to be appointed to run a second team in the Midsomer Norton Youth League as soon as possible.
