A goal from Rich Krug after 20 minutes was enough to settle this local derby in the Somerset County League Division 1 East in front of a bumper crowd. There was little to choose between the two teams who are both enjoying successful campaigns.

Timsbury had their best chance of the game as early as the 12th minute when the energetic Lewis Blannin broke clear, but with just Dan Dowling in the Clutton goal to beat, he shot wide.

At the other end, Krug gave an early indication of his threat with a shot that Jack Newman saved with difficulty while Blannin showed clever control before forcing Dowling to save well at the expense of a fruitless corner. The breakthrough, when it came, saw Krug’s effort from the left float over Newman’s head and into the net. A header from Will Withers for the visitors went just wide and then Newman made a fine save from Gavin Cabble.

Early in the second half, Krug came close to a second shooting into the side-netting and the same player forced a tremendous save out of Newman. As Timsbury began to mount a period of consistent pressure, Dowling saved well from Jimmy Hailston and substitute, Craig Dowling, saw a crisp shot whistle past the visitors’ upright. Despite their pressure, the home side were denied by a resilient Clutton defence with some goalmouth melees failing to achieve a positive outcome. In a late flourish, Adam Holcombe saw a dangerous free-kick blocked by the home side and Dowling shot wide as Timsbury searched for the equaliser.
