PAULTON ROVERS 0 v 1 CHIPPENHAM TOWN
Paulton disappointingly went down to the only goal in a hard fought game on a cold and windy night at Winterfield Road.
Rovers’ Skipper, Darren Mullings, fired wide in the second minute and then had a shot held by Bluebird’s keeper, Kauppinen.
Ben Whitehead turned to Josh Ford, only for his shot to be turned around the post by John for a corner.
There was controversy on seven minutes when a through ball saw veteran Alan Griffin well offside for the visitors and was fouled by Aaron Brown in the build-up which result in a yellow card.
Paulton had a great chance on fifteen minutes as Nuno Felix’s pile driver was blocked by Greg Tindle. Felix bore down on goal with the referee pulling play back forty yards for a free kick to Rovers.
Whitehead hit a wild shot over the bar and John held a low cross from Matt Smith.
Smith raced on to a long ball from Chris Allen and got behind the Paulton defence, but his weak shot was easily held by John.
In the second half, Smith twice tested John and their was a glaring miss by Alex Ferguson from Guthrie’s cross.
Griffin had the ball in the net adjudged offside then Ford cleared off the line from substitute, Oli Taylor and Griffin drove wide.
Chippenham hit the decisive goal on 82 minutes when Allen’s low shot was saved by John, only for Taylor to tap in.
