England Veterans booked their place in the semi-finals of the Seniors World Cup with a comprehensive four one win over Taiwan, at the True Area in Hua Hin.
A second win in two days was secured by two goals in either half. Barry Hayles opened the scoring, before Peter Beagrie converted his second spot kick in two days.
In the second half, England pressed home their advantage with more good work out wide by Peter Beagrie, leading to a spectacular headed goal from Captain-for-the-day, Lee Elam.
Rod Thornley grabbed England’s fourth late in the game, but Taiwan battled to the end and their efforts were rewarded with a goal scored in spectacular fashion, an over-head kick beating Steve Dickinson in the England goal.
The England Veterans meet New Zealand today in their final group game at the Hua Hin Stadium at 4 p.m. local time 10 a.m. in the UK. The match will be shown live on the Facebook page of the Senior Football Association of Thailand: https://www.facebook.com/sfathailand/
