What a treat. Unbelievably good weather and we are nearly into October! The golf course is in beautiful condition, a real picture.
Even after some very busy periods with charity days, golf societies and the like, the greens and fairways are looking good. Thanks to all of those who replace divots and repair pitchmarks (and not just your own), and for those who do not – why not?
You know, it is so frustrating landing in an unrepaired divot – or worse, in a bunker, when you find the previous incumbent hasn’t even bothered to rake it! If you are a guilty party, repair it or rake it, don’t leave it.
A bowmaker was the competition for the day; best two scores from three. Some familiar names in the placings; predictive text is a godsend when typing editorial – enough said!
In first place was Jim Lunt, Don Perry and Steve Park with 93 points. In second was Rick Clark, Bob Baker and Ray Wilkinson with 92 points. In third was Tim Waller, Graham Price and Andy Smart with 89 points.
Farrington Park Seniors are once again into the Final of the Somerset Seniors Bowl, and will play Wells in a repeat of last year’s encounter. It will be played at The Mendip on Tuesday, 1st October.
Nearest the Pins on the 5th was Roy Matthews; the 8th Barry Hall, the 14th Chris Liberty and the 15th Dave Brown.
