DUE TO the changing weather conditions, the Pro Shop 2 person Texas Scramble at Mendip Golf Club was run as separate Saturday and Sunday competitions.

Saturday’s event was won by John Russell and James White with a net 60, with Pete Hoddinott and Paul Panton finishing in 2nd place with 61 and Justin Barrow and Paul Merrett 3rd with 63.

The Sunday event, with a much larger entry due to the improved weather conditions following a particularly difficult day, saw a further win for William Burns and David Goldie, having won the previous weekend’s 4bbb Stableford, with a net 61. Second were Mark Necker and Tony Scott with 63, Jack Cook and Jack Vowell were 3rd with 64 after count back from Nigel Pidgeon and Nick White.

Forty-six Ladies played in the 9 hole Stableford event which saw Wendy Collins winning overall with 22 points. Division 1 went to Susy Rudkin with 18 after count back from Rosemary Brown. Division 2 was won by Gina Howard with 20 points with Susan Forshaw 2nd with 16 after count back from Karen Cookson. Division 3 saw a win for Rebecca Edwards with 21 with Maggie Brain 2nd with 17 after count back from Sue Alcock, Julia Phillips and Ann Kibby.

Eighty-four Seniors played in the Turkey Trot event at Mendip in difficult playing conditions with a strong southerly wind blowing, which kept the scores fairly low.

The overall winner was Peter Arnold with 39 points, with David Braithwaite a point behind in 2nd place. Ian Vincent came in in third spot with 37 with Tony Scott 4th with 36 after count back from Angus Henderson, Antony George and Mike Tout. Dave Harvey was 8th with 35 after count back from Steve Davis.
