PAULTON Rovers bounced back to winning form with a 6-0 away win over Cheddar in a Somerset Premier Cup-tie.
Rovers forced two corners in the opening moments, the second of which saw the opening of the scoring. Martin Lenihan placed in the perfect cross that the Cheddar defence failed to deal with properly; the ball spilling out to Tom Bradley who made some space before firing home.
Elliott Haffenden grabbed a second goal following a Dan McBeam through ball for the striker to move onto and shoot under the keeper.
Another chance came in the25th minute as the ball fell to Simon Gilbert, but stretching, he could only manage to fire over the bar. The third came quickly after. Wayne Nderemani sent over a corner from the right, the ball beating the defence and was nodded in at the far post by Kailan Gould for his first since his return to Paulton.
Rovers had kept Cheddar at arms length for the entire half bar a couple of corners and Alfie Kelsey had very little to do.
The fourth goal came in the 58th minute when Martin Lenihan played a jinked cross into the box allowing Haffenden to poke home for his second. Rovers made some changes, but still the chances came.
Haffenden grabbed his hat-trick when he stole the ball deep in Cheddar's half, moved into the box and clinically slotted the ball past the keeper.
Kailan Gould then produced a mazy run right at the heart of the Cheddar defence; the move deserved a goal but the keeper was just able to block his shot.
As time ticked down, Haffenden got his fourth when CHris Peck hit a long ball over the cheddar defence with Haffenden having his firs tshot blocked but he was able to take the ball again and roll it into the net.
