Somer Valley Football Club have agreed a three-year Sponsorship deal, starting with the current 2018/19 season, with local company, MCM Garage/MCM Mot Ltd, based in Westfield.

Somer Valley FC Chairman, Tim Wells, said: “The directors have kindly supported us with funds to purchase a new home kit, in return for sponsorship and coverage on our social media as ‘Man of the Match’ sponsors.

“Without this sponsorship, we wouldn’t be able to fund kit replacement after using our current home strip for four years, or run our club as smoothly.”

The club are a local Men’s eleven-a-side football team, competing in the Mid-Somerset League Division One, and was established in 2013. The team play at Somervale School’s 4G Astro pitch, and support Midsomer Norton Cricket Club, using their clubhouse after matches and for events.

Tim continued: “We pride ourselves on bringing players back into the game of all ages, sixteen-plus, and have ambitions to start a Second team when we have enough players and volunteers to run it. Annually, we rise funds for a chosen charity via events throughout the season.

“Our club is run by the players, who are encouraged to take up committee positions, helping run the club sustainably and give opportunities for further involvement in sport off the pitch.

“Through these endeavours, and our social media presence, we have gained a weekly slot on local radio station Somer Valley FM, which features the full spectrum of football coverage to grassroots level. It is the insight into running a small player-run club, alongside our interesting results, that adds to the coverage appeal.

“We would encourage anyone who would be interested in playing or helping to run the club to get in touch, and are looking for a local organisation to sponsor our away kit, which also needs replacing.”
