Chilcompton United 2 Paulton Rovers Res 7

Paulton Rovers’ Reserves took to the road again, this time they made the short trip to Farrington in a local Derby against Chilcompton.

The Reserves made the brighter start, catching United out with some swift moving counter attacks, efforts coming from Tyler Lane and Paul Gray.

Rovers made the breakthrough when the keeper made a double save but Tyler Lane was there to follow up the rebound. That kick-started Chilcompton’s half when they responded with a equaliser after a mix-up in midfield. United soon made it two from the penalty spot when Rovers defender, Maxime Ekoka brought down the incoming striker in the box.

With that, Paulton started to up the pace, including Paul Gray seeing his shot canon off the post. The last action of the half saw Darren Whitfield’s pinpoint through ball pick out Paul Gray, who was subsequently brought down by the last defender on the edge of the box. From the resulting free kick, Gray stepped up and placed the ball into the top corner of the net. HT 2–2

Paulton made a couple changes at the start of the second half and within the first 15 minutes, the game was all but over. Paul Gray not only completed his hat trick, but notched a fourth as well before coming off. Curtis Taylor’s run and perfectly timed pass to Callum Carter made it six and Drew Lovelock adding a seventh with ten minutes to go. For the second game in a row, Jack Seymour’s presence in midfield took the team to another level. Changes to both sides ran down the clock plus tempers rising through some dodgy-looking challenges which the referee deemed only a caution. Paulton Reserves coming away convincing winners.
