Former Premier League Referee, Bobby Madley, presented Paulton Rovers’ Chairman with a signed football after his superb and open talk recently.
Over 100 people attended, some travelling as many miles to listen to Bobby Madley speak, whilst enjoying a free buffet. The evening was organised by Martin Cassidy, CEO of Ref Support UK as part of the #LoveTheWhistle programme that is aimed at bringing referees and clubs closer together to improve the game for us all.
Rhiannon Stevens, a fifteen-year-old referee who was threatened and verbally abused by two adult male coaches was also recognised at the event. During the incident, she sent them both off and appeared at a hearing that resulted in both men being banned from coaching. Paulton Rovers felt she needed recognising for her courage in standing up to these bullies.
