A fundraising campaign to help with ex-footballer, Jamie Mines’ rehabilitation following an accident just before Christmas which saw him needing both arms and a leg amputated to save his life, has now raised over £69,000.

Jamie was electrocuted at work in a freak accident, seeing him hospitalised in a critical condition. He was placed into a coma and had to have both arms and a leg, as well as toes on his other foot, amputated in order to save his life.

Friends started raising money in December to help him, his girlfriend and baby twin daughters with his rehabilitation.

Donations, which have almost reached £70,000 and counting, have come in from local football fans, friends of the family and from various events, as well as from individuals across the country after Jamie’s story featured in the national news. Orchardleigh Golf Club has donated £4,000 after holding a special auction.

There are several fundraising events planned to continue to raise money, including a non-league football tourament at Frome Town Football Club and a planned charity walk from Larkhall Athletic’s ground to Frome Town, visiting each of the local football clubs Jamie played for, on 5th March. Friends of the family have also put collection buckets around Frome for the next few weeks to help boost the amount.

It has been reported that Jamie’s condition is improving and that he has started his rehabilitation.
