PAULTON Rovers gained a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Devizes Town in their second pre-season friendly.
Despite the nature of the victory, things didn't start comfortably as Devizes grabbed a goal in the third minute. From a throw-in on the right the ball was flicked on finding an attacker in space, who was able to sweep the ball past Alfie Kelsey.
It turned out to be Devizes best chance of the game as Rovers began to take the lions share of the possession after the opener.
The equaliser came in the 12th minute when Asa White was dragged down in the box. Kitan stepped up to take the resulting penalty but, unusually for him, had his shot saved. After a scramble in the follow-up, 'trialist' was able to tap home. Rovers continued to press for the rest of the half but were unable to add to the scoreline.
The second half saw a number of substitutions by both teams and in the main, Rovers had control of the game with Kelsey remaining untroubled. Paulton took the lead in the 55th minute when Asa White nodded in a header from a corner and the gloss was put on the game in cheeky style when Kye Simpson casually flicked the ball over his head and into the net after a cross from the right
.All in all, it was another hard working performance from the team who are already starting to show signs of good understanding between the new players.
