Paulton Rovers Res 5 Cam Valley Res 0

On a day when the conditions could have played its part on the outcome of game, it did everything but that. Returning to league action, Paulton welcomed neighbours Cam Valley.

Rovers started the first half knowing they were in for a fight against their rivals and the weather. Both teams used the wings to try and break down each others defence but the outcome was always the same with each keeper collecting the efforts. With Cam Valley pinned back in their own half, Paulton had numerous chances to take the lead with strikes coming from Paul Gray and Tyler Lane.

Finally the Reserves hard work paid off when Jack Seymour found Gray on the edge of the box, who found some space and drilled it into the net. Cam Valley rallied and had a chance of their own from 30 yards out, but Will Smith in the Rovers goal, pulled off an exceptional save and put past the post. HT 1-0

With the second half under way, Paulton knew they couldn’t sit back, so put the pressure on to the away side. Some neat footwork from Paul Gray on the left hand side, delivered a ball into the penalty area and found Tyler Lane who fired home to make it 2-0. Changes were made to freshen up the Reserves midfield and the impact was instantaneous. A combination of passes from Seymour and Lewis Dowling, found Gray on the left who crossed for Harrison Newman to tap in at the far post. Cam Valley kept applying pressure onto the back four of Rovers but was well defended by Darren Whitfield and Curtis Taylor. Paulton made sure of the points when Newman finished off a great team effort and Harrison Rogers nodded in at the far post to make it five.
