PAULTON Rovers Ladies were beaten 6-1 at home by AEK Boco Ladies in the South West Regional Women’s Football League today (Sun).
Rovers keeper Isla Withyman was alert to parry away a Mia Brain shot before Boco took a ninth minute lead with a floated cross shot from captain Sasha Ferris.
The visitors made it 2-0 on 18 minutes as the lively Aimee Clark drove home a low shot.
Paulton responded as Alisha Stuart had a shot on target deflected for a corner. Withyman saved from Jessica Titcomb and there was some stout Rovers defending particularly from Alice Dwyer.
On 42 minutes Boco added to the tally as Mia Brain's pass found Ferris who made no mistake.
As half time approached there was just time for a fourth as striker Aimee Clark was on hand to poke the ball past Withyman.
Paulton came into the second half looking more determined and Aimee Michell fired wide. However it was 5-0 on 49 minutes as a misplaced pass was seized onto by Megan Bloomer to slot home.
Michell had an effort blocked by the Boco defence, while at the other end Withyman twice made fine saves from Bloomer, Clark and sub Jessica Dobbins. Dwyer was on hand to tackle Bloomer.
In the 81st minute another loose ball out of defence came to sub Enya Wilkinson who fired home a low drive to make it six.
Paulton's consolation came minutes later as Michell was put through by Stuart. Boco keeper raced out of goal but sliced her clearance wide on the left. The ball found Rovers Stuart who from fully twenty five yards lobbed the ball into the empty net.
