Paulton Rovers’ Manager, John Rendell, moved quickly to sign experienced goalkeeper, Joe Perry, from Merthyr Town.

Joe replaces former Norton Hill student, Adam Forster, after the Hallatrow youngster surprised Rendell by announcing he had accepted an offer from Premier League South team, Yate Town.

John said: “Having given eighteen-year-old Forster his Southern League chance and seen him develop to move to a much higher level, I was bitterly disappointed with his

decision. However, to snap up such an experienced keeper in Joe Perry augurs well, as I am determined to build a much improved Paulton Rovers.”

To that end, pre-season training started last Thursday, and will continue two-to-three times a week, leading to the pre-season friendlies at Ashton & Blackwell on Wednesday, 10th July, before the team travel to Bridgend to play Penybont the following Saturday.

The first home friendly is on Friday, 19th July, with Bristol Rovers U23s the visitors; kick-off 7.30 p.m.
