Wembdon Reserves 1 Paulton Rovers Reserves 0
Paulton’s amount of overall possession meant they should have taken this Somerset Intermediate Cup Fourth Round game.
Instead, all the chances went begging and Wembdon grabbed the only goal on fourteen minutes to go through to the Quarter Final.
The hosts went ahead on fourteen minutes as Max Cattle got on the end of a cross from the right to beat Rovers’ 16-year-old keeper, Will Smith.
Paul Gray, Tyler Lane and Jack Seymour all had shots wide of the target.
Rovers’ defence, well marshalled by Aaron Whittock and Curtis Taylor, were in all honestly rarely troubled.
Smith competently dealt with several Wembdon half chances in the second half.
Paulton camped in the home half and Josh Ayres broke from deep only to see his drive blocked by the home keeper, who was also on hand to save from Paul Gray and Harrison Rogers.
Seymour was put through by Harrison Newman, only to drive over the crossbar whilst Newman and Lane both had efforts on a target blocked by a resolute defence.
A huge disappointment for fifteen Rovers travelling supporters.
