Paulton Rovers should have sealed this game, having spent much of the match camped in the Winchester half, with Braeden Symes testing home keeper, Ryan Pryce, from the off.

Rovers’ stopper, Joe Perry, was out swiftly to stop Rob Carr. On minute nine, ‘The Citizens’ were awarded a penalty after Charlie Hitchings handled and Captain, Jamie Barron, converted from the spot.

Pryce did well to hold Ed Butcher’s curling free kick. Paulton equalised in the fortieth minute as Symes lobbed forward and the chasing Ben Bament was brought down by Pryce and Bament scored from the spot.

Perry was called upon to make a double save from Sim Mlambo on the restart, and Joe Hillard blocked a Mlambo drive in a rare Winchester attack.

After a foul on Bament, Butcher’s free kick went wide and then Brad Abraham drove the ball wide. In response, Rob Carr set up substitute, Oliver Griggs, who blasted over.

Butcher was causing trouble down the left and Hillard’s shot was deflected for a corner. Late on, Rovers’ midfielder, Dave Sims-Burgess, was shown a red card for a late tackle.
