Simon Wilkinson, Chairman of Radstock Town Football Club, was praised for the contribution he’s made to the Miners during his time at the Club, in the latest episode of the Toolstation Western League Podcast.

The weekly podcast, presented by former Somer Valley FM Sport Show host, Ian Nockolds and journalist, Tom Hiscott, covers all the news from around the Western League, including manager interviews.

This week’s interview featured Miners’ Manager, Shane Smith, who spoke about his team’s impressive win over Wincanton Town, the club’s strong youth team and his ambitions for a top five finish. During the interview, Ian took the opportunity to pay tribute to the contribution he’s seen made by Radstock’s Chairman, Simon Wilkinson, saying: “We find stories about great volunteers all over the Western League. Simon is the personification of those volunteers who put so much into grassroots football. A nicer man you couldn’t possibly meet and a man who certainly deserves the success the club are delivering on the pitch.”

Later in the interview, the Radstock Manager was keen to highlight the club’s support to match officials, in light of a recent spate of high profile cases where non-league referees have been physically abused. Shane said: “I know respect has to come both ways, between players and referees, but we’d never want to see referees assaulted. It’s something as a club we feel strongly about.”
