Paulton Rovers Manager, John Rendell, has confirmed the club will start pre season training on Tuesday, 15th June.
The Manager announced: “I am looking forward to getting the boys back together as it seems a long time since we played competitive football and enjoyed the social atmosphere in the clubhouse afterwards.
“Over the last few months, I have been inundated with players wishing to attend, so I sift through and invite where possible. It’s important to not end up with 30 plus at pre-season, I like to work closely with the squad and start prepping for friendly matches and formation and personnel gearing up ready for the start of the season early August.
“I have been liaising closely with Josh Hurst and I have invited a few of the lads from the club’s Development squad to train with the First Team as we continue to bring through new blood with our good young talented lads from the area.
“We will hold our sessions on the training pitch at the ground. I will again be assisted by two former Paulton players, Paul Tovey (Assistant Manager/Coach) and Andy Sandell (Player/Coach).
Sands of course went on to play for Bath City, Bristol Rovers, Wycombe Wanders and Newport County after he left Winterfield Road amassing over 250 Football League games.
“I am pleased with the pre-season schedule we have managed to devise so far. It will be a tough test for the lads through July with many games in a short space of time against full time players and teams from higher divisions, so it will provide a good test for the squad after such a long period away from each other.
“It has been such a unique period of time for the players not playing a competitive game for several months, so it’s important to get back together, train hard and be tested in games in order to obtain the required level of match fitness in time for August 14th, when we start our first game of the 2021/22 season in the Pitching In Southern League Division South.
“As ever, at this time of year, there will be some ins and outs as we try to improve, build and shape the squad, but at the same time manage the finances and budget restraints during these difficult times.”
