CORSHAM TOWN U18s 0 PAULTON ROVERS U18s 4

A game full of action, which resulted in two red cards and a 4-0 win for the visitors.

Corsham had the majority of possession in the early stages of the game and looked the most likely team to take the lead.

However, after 25 minutes of solid defending, Paulton were the first team to get a breakthrough when Noah Kruszynski found the net from the first corner of the game.

After conceding against the run of play, Corsham started to look frustrated and it wasn’t long until the first yellow card was shown to the home number eight, Neil Smith, after a nasty challenge on Mason Harrison.

The visitors looked more in the game after this, and linked well to score again from a move that started on the left, with Oakley Rawlings crossed by Blaine Lawrence and put back across goal by Ali Sen and into the net by Mason Harrison to double the lead.

As Rovers started to push higher up the pitch, Corsham had a couple of chances on the counter-attack to get a goal back before half-time, but the score remained 2-0 at the break.

The second half kicked off, and substitute, Jake Curtis, who replaced Sam Cary at the break, had an almost immediate effect, finishing well to make it 3-0 to the visitors.

Curtis continued to cause havoc, running at the home defence, and got on the scoresheet again with another well-taken finish to make it 4-0 with thirty minutes left to play.

The game began to get heated, and the first of the red cards was given to the debutant Rovers’ keeper for throwing the ball at a Corsham player out of frustration. Sen then put the gloves on for Paulton.

Ten minutes later, Smith was shown a second yellow card when he punched the ball out of a Rovers player’s hands as he was about to take a throw-in and attempted to slow the game down, despite Paulton having the advantage!

In the dying moments of the game, an error from Sen led to an excellent block from his centre-back, Christian Gregory, who dived in front of the ball to stop it with his chest, keeping the final score 4-0.

The return fixture is next Thursday at Paulton Rovers FC; kick-off 7.30 p.m.
