COLEFORD Athletic swept on at the top of the Premier Division in the Mid Somerset Football League by hammering struggling Evercreech Rovers 11-1 at home.

It enabled them to stretch their lead to eight points over second-placed Frome Town United who dropped points in a goalless draw away to High Littleton.

In the other game played in the division, Clutton Reserves gained a 4-0 home success against bottom side Timsbury Athletic Reserves who have now lost all 11 of their league games this season.

In the first division, second-placed Pilton United were beaten 4-2 at home by Chew Magna Reserves who won only their fourth game of the season.

Peasedown Albion Reserves moved up to within a point of Pilton - they also have three crucial games in hand - after beating Haydon Sports at home.

In the second division, Writhlington United beat title rivals Coleford Athletic Reserves 3-1 at home to open up a four-point lead at the top of the table.

Westfield Development were 4-2 away winners over Farrington Gurney while Chilcompton Sports A won 1-0 against Frome Town United A.

Meanwhile, first division leaders Odd Down (Bath) Development moved into the next round of the Somerset Intermediate Cup with a convincing 4-0 home win over Taunton Saturday League outfit Alcombe Rovers.
