Local radio station, Somer Valley FM, will be celebrating Non-League Day with Radstock Town on Saturday, 3rd September. Non-League Day is a key fixture in the football season calendar, giving semi-professional and amateur clubs the chance to highlight the importance of affordable, volunteer-led, community football.

Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day, which started as a social media experiment, is now in its sixth year. This year, Non-League Day is also looking to raise awareness and money for its charity partner, Prostate Cancer UK. One man an hour dies from prostate cancer in the UK – that’s 10,900 men a year. The campaign aims to raise £10,000 to help make this statistic a thing of the past.

Somer Valley FM will be joining Radstock Town for their home game against Roman Glass St George, which kicks off at 3 p.m.

The radio station’s Sports Show presenter, Ian Nockolds, said: “We’ve been supporting Non-League Day for the past few years because it celebrates what we love about local football. The partnership with Prostate Cancer UK is another important reason to get behind this wonderful initiative.

“With Welton Rovers and Paulton Rovers playing away, I hope that any of our listeners not travelling with their team on September 3rd will lend their support to the Miners and join us up at Southfields Recreation Ground.”
