Timsbury Athletic came back from two goals down at half-time to beat Frome Town Sports, 3–2 at home in the Somerset County League Cup for First Division clubs and in so doing, qualified for the next stage of the competition. The visitors had much the better of the opening 45 minutes and could have been out of sight at the interval, but Timsbury came back strongly in the second period.

Frome made a dream start with an opening goal in the first minute. Dan Whitley found himself totally unmarked wide on the left and coolly shot past Jack Scrivens in the home goal. Joe Crabbe came close to adding a second soon after, with a fine shot that Scrivens did well to turn over the top before Grant Aven made it 2–0 with just ten minutes on the clock with a shot that went in off the post.

A shot from Ellis Hancock that went well wide and another effort from Liam Craze that cleared the bar were all that Timsbury had to offer and Frome could well have added a third when a searching ball from Tom Strippel ended with Aven shooting into the side-netting.

Some stern words from Manager, Dom Eatherden, at half-time soon paid dividends for Timsbury after the break, with Hancock pulling a goal back within a minute of the resumption. Eight minutes later, a shot from distance from Jack Nix deceived Ryan Aven in the Frome goal and Timsbury were level.

Substitute, Arran Connor livened up the Frome effort and a fine run down the left ended with a telling cross which eluded his fellow forwards. Nix again tried his luck from distance, but this time, shot just too high before Hancock capped a vastly improved second half showing with his second goal and Timsbury’s third with a measured lob over Aven’s head.

Right on time Hancock came close to notching a hat-trick, but his header hit the crossbar.
