Timsbury Athletic maintained their promotion drive in the Somerset County League Division One East with a comprehensive 4–0 home win against Larkhall Athletic Reserves.
Two goals right on half-time gave the home side a 3–0 cushion and although the visitors saw plenty of the ball in the second period, Timsbury endured few difficult moments.
The home side went ahead after eleven minutes, when the outstanding Lewis Blannin headed home. Larkhall keeper, Sam Jones, saved well from Jem Lutwama, who then shot over the top after being set up by Blannin. At the other end, Ben Parsons came close for Larkhall with a great shot from distance while Lutwama was just wide for the home side.
Parsons again came close for the visitors, before the home side virtually settled the issue with two goals on the stroke of half-time. First Blannin intercepted a poor back pass before slotting past Jones and then almost immediately, the same player crossed for Jesse Bishop to add the third.
Blannin came close to clinching a hat-trick straight after the resumption, but was denied after breaking clear.
Jack Newman, in the Timsbury goal, then saved well from Parsons before Bishop shot over the top after good inter-play with Lutwama. Ben Starr saw a goal-bound effort blocked for the visitors while an effort from James Webb was wide of the post.
With sixteen minutes to go, Timsbury made it 4–0 when Lutwama raced clear and showed excellent composure before shooting past Jones. Jonny Dolman headed over with a late chance for Larkhall, but Timsbury saw the game out comfortably to remain at the top of the league. Star Man: Lewis Blannin (Timsbury Athletic).
