Pensford defied league form and status to knock Timsbury Athletic out of the Somerset Senior Cup. Trailing 1–0 at half-time, the visitors turned the game upside down with three goals in the first eighteen minutes of the second half and despite a late Timsbury rally, were deserved winners.

Pensford made a bright start and Chris Cavill was just wide with an early effort. At the other end, Ellis Hancock was put through by Craig Dowling, but had his shot saved by keeper, Lee Jenkins. Dowling himself was just wide soon afterwards, while for Pensford, the dangerous Aaron Price saw a crisp shot well saved by Jack Scrivens.

The breakthrough came after 27 minutes, when Hancock beat off several Pensford challenges before planting his shot past Jenkins. Timsbury then had several good chances to increase their advantage, with Jenkins doing well to block Hancock’s goalbound effort with Jesse Bishop placing the rebound wide. Scrivens, meanwhile, again saved well from Price.

Pensford were level within five minutes of the restart when Price ran through a static home defence to round Scrivens and equalize. The same player then struck a tremendous shot which brought a superb save from Scrivens, who pushed the effort on to the bar.

Against a home side lacking energy, Pensford were now looking much the better side and after 58 minutes, took the lead when substitute, James Phillips, fired past Scrivens. Five minutes later and it was 3–1 with Price again the marksman, confidently striking his shot past Scrivens with the aid of a post.

With time running out, Hancock pulled a goal back for the home side and it sparked a late show of momentum from Timsbury, but despite pressing for the equalizer, the visitors held out.
