Timsbury Athletic produced their most dominant performance of the season to totally destroy fellow title contenders, Westfield, in the Somerset County League Division One East. 6–0 in no way flattered the home side and it could have been even worse for Westfield, had it not been for some fine work from their keeper, Chris Wright.

The visitors had an early chance when Nathan Beauchamp shot just wide, but thereafter it was all Timsbury. Wright saved instinctively from a Mark Hancock header following an excellent cross from Callum Taylor before Hancock broke the deadlock after eleven minutes when he prodded home a free-kick from his brother, Ben. A fluent move between Matt Brooks and Joe Parker saw Lewis Blannin head wide before Timsbury went two up on the half-hour.

A poor clearance from defence was picked up by the alert Taylor and his pass ended with Jesse Bishop hitting a superb shot past Wright. As Timsbury piled on the pressure, a good cross from Mark Hancock ended with Blannin hammering home goal number three. Ellis Hancock was foiled by another fine Wright save and right on half-time, Bishop headed wide from close range.

There was no let-up in the second half, with Blannin, who the visitors struggled to contain all afternoon, adding a fourth goal within three minutes of the restart. Wright did well again to deny Mark Hancock, while in a rare moment of danger at the other end, Taylor did superbly to rob Beau Baber, who had been set up by Ryan Allen. Timsbury went 5–0 up on the hour when Brooks powered home a Liam Craze corner.

Timsbury keeper, Ross Hamilton, saved well from Nathan Maggs before Brooks again came up from the back to head home Bishop’s corner for number six. Bishop then missed a great chance to add further to Westfield’s misery when Timsbury were awarded a penalty, but Tom Waterland, who had replaced Wright in goal, saved the spot-kick.
