Timsbury Athletic 6

Clutton 0

Timsbury Athletic had much the better of their local derby with Clutton in the Uhlsport Somerset County League Premier Division and three goals in each half saw them claim a 6-0 home victory. Clutton had a good spell early in the second half but overall they struggled to make an impact in the match.

The home side dominated the first half and took the lead after 13 minutes. A long searching ball from captain Callum Taylor was seized upon by Chris Midgley who reacted first to lob over the advancing Taylor Williams in the Clutton goal. Williams then saved an effort from Sam Gregory and Jesse Bishop clipped his shot over the bar from Liam Craze’s corner. As Timsbury continued to press forward Williams blocked a Rhys Cook shot before the home side went 2-0 up after 27 minutes. Gregory had his shirt pulled in the box and Cook confidently converted the spot-kick. Six minutes later and it was 3-0. Gregory set MIdgley clear and he made no mistake with a clinical finish. Another Gregory effort flew across the visitor’s goal but this time Cook just failed to reach it.

Clutton came out after the interval with real endeavour and came close to pulling a goal back. First Taylor had to be alert to head a cross from George Perry off the line and then Brandon Hurst rattled the bar with a fine effort. A cracking shot from Sam Krugg then brought the best out of Timsbury custodian Ashton Tucker but it was the keeper’s last action as he left the pitch with Gregory going in goal.

Ellis Hancock came on as sub and soon made his presence felt heading home an excellent cross from Taylor to make it 4-0. When a shot from Rico Sobers was blocked Hancock followed up to make it 5-0 and then Cook became the third home player to grab a brace shooting home after another fine run from Sobers.
