Timsbury Athletic completed the double over Cutters Friday in the Somerset County League Division One with a 3–0 away win. It was a poor match, but maintains Timsbury’s third place in the table, while the Bristol side remains rooted to the bottom.

Timsbury took the lead after twelve minutes. Ellis Hancock was pushed in the back and Liam Craze made no mistake from the penalty spot. The same player was then just wide while Jimmy Hailston found the net for the visitors, but was ruled offside. Curtis Walker was wide for Cutters with a spectacular overhead kick and Olaniyi Martins was just over the top for the home side. A great cross from the impressive Callum Taylor was headed wide by Hancock and Hailston was wide with another effort. Right on half-time, Timsbury doubled their advantage when teenager, Toby Neilson, outpaced Cutters’ defence to lob over the home keeper, Ross Hamilton. Before the break, Matt Brooks looked certain to increase the lead, but Hamilton made a superb save from his header.

Early in the second half, a free-kick from Joe Gordon-Hallett for Timsbury went just past the post before Hancock hit the bar after some fluent inter-play with Jesse Bishop. A series of substitutions livened up the game and one of those brought on, Craig Dowling, added Timsbury’s third goal with a header from Craze’s corner. Playing their best football of the game, Timsbury threatened to boost their goal tally with Jack Nix and Hancock both just wide while Hamilton made another blank range save from Hancock. The spirited home side finished the game well and it took a good save from keeper, Ben Hancock from Martins to deny Cutters a late consolation goal.

This coming Saturday Timsbury face their most difficult task of the season when they entertain Premier Division leaders, Nailsea and Tickenham in the League Cup competition for Premier and Division One clubs (2 p.m. kick-off).
