WELTON Rovers’ hopes of winning their first match of the season in Division One of the Jewson Western Football League were dashed when they lost 2-0 away to Wincanton.

It was their fifth loss on the bounce in the division and they now hold up the table with no points and a minus-nine goal deficit.

Odd Down (Bath) held on to top spot despite going down to a 2-0 home loss to Almondsbury after the sides had fought out a goalless first half.

It was not a good day for the top sides with second-placed Longwell Green Sports being beaten 2-1 away by Avonmouth who moved up to fourth place, with a game in hand on the top two outfits.

AEK Boco kept in touch with the leaders after they gained a comfortable 4-1 home success against Cadbury Heath while Nailsea United were 4-2 home winners over Mendip Broadwalk to maintain their good, early form.
