Welton Reserves put on a good show against a lively Wells side, in the end the visitors overcame Welton’s stalwart defences to earn the three points.

After an even opening period, the visitors took the game to their hosts and Welton had Mark Andrade to thank for a goal line clearance that stopped a certain goal. A free-kick from Matt Warman saw Wells keeper, Harrison Veale save well.

At the other end, Welton keeper, Billy Barter produced a great save to deny the lively Tom Smith. The visitors were dominant and just before half-time, Barter was on hand again to produce an outstanding save to deny Kieron Padfield’s stunning shot from reaching the target.

The second half started with Wells pressing the Welton back four and Welton defender, Matt Warman produced a quality flying headed clearance to clear his lines and stop a certain goal.

However, the deadlock was broken on fifty five minutes when the ball fell to Smith on the left.

Welton pressed the visitors for an equaliser and good work by Jed Parfitt down the right saw his final effort scrambled away by the Wells defence. Then excellent play from substitute Warren Forrest saw him feed the ball to Ryan Rutland in space but his first time shot was saved by Veale. Bob Allard
