WELTON Rovers ended the year with a 3-2 away win over neighbours Radstock Town in the first division of the Jewson Western Football League on Boxing Day.

It was only their second victory of the season but they remain four points adrift at the bottom of the table although they have games in hand on teams just above them.

Radstock went into the game with plenty of confidence, having won 2-0 against Cadbury Heath on the same ground only six days earlier.

In the top match in the division on Boxing Day, leaders Devizes Town maintained their unbeaten record with a 4-1 home success against Calne Town

It enabled them to stretch their lead of seven points over second-placed Avonmouth who were held to a 1-1 home draw by Almondsbury.

Meanwhile, Radstock are due to play at home to Warminster Town in a league match on Friday, January 2 (7.45p.m.), while Welton entertain Devizes on Saturday (3p.m.).
