WELTON Rovers have a pre-season friendly at home to neighbours Paulton Rovers on Thursday, July 3 (7,30p.m.).

Other friendlies for Welton include: July 5 away v Chippenham Town (11 a.m.); July 19 away v Stockwood Wanderers (3p.m.); July 21 away v Bradford Town (7.30); July 24 home v Chilcompton Sports (7.30p.m.).

Following relegation, Welton will be playing in the first division of the Jewson Western Football League with the season getting under way on Saturday, August 2.

*Welton finished bottom of the Premier Division in the Jewson Western League, winning only one game and drawing one other.

However, they began to show considerable improvement towards the end of the season after some big losses. They went down by only the odd goal in their derby match at home to Paulton Rovers at the end of the season.

Portishead were the outstanding side in the Premier Division, winning the championship and Les Phillips Cup.
